How we were establishedHaving been inspired by neighbouring villages who have been successful in Britain in Bloom, a small group of volunteers in Langho have got together to help spruce up the village. They have begun work on some small patches of neglected gardens at Langho Pharmacy and The Sylhet Restaurant.
Lorna Harwood, Pharmicist says : “Langho Pharmacy is delighted to be involved in this project. Our “garden” had become an eyesore filled with brambles, weeds and litter. The volunteer gardeners have done a marvellous job clearing away all the weeds and rubbish. Ray Marsh, a local Dry Stone Wall specialist, has built a small garden using the stones unearthed by the volunteers whilst excavating the plot. The cost of the building work has been generously sponsored by Langho Pharmacy Ltd who own the business. Our next step is to plant it up with herbs, fragrant plants and shrubs for the whole community to enjoy, hopefully in time for Easter”. Veronica Hargreaves, volunteer co-ordinator, says : “ Our small team has made a real impact in a short time. Kate Murdoch, Langho Pharmacy Technician is a key member of our team and has worked really hard We are hoping to recruit more volunteers, schools, church groups and local businesses who would like to get involved and help us achieve our ultimate goal of entering Langho into the RHS Villages in Bloom competition”. If you are interested and have an hour to spare, or you would like your business or group to take part then please contact Veronica on : 07895 697229 or email [email protected] |
