Today we've been to St Mary's Junior School and done a talk about what we do in Langho in Bloom. A few weeks ago we gave them an old wheelbarrow which they've planted up and presented back to us. Wow it looks beautiful, what a fantastic effort from all involved.

“Bloom into Spring” A fashion show by Wardrobe by Simone Thursday 15th March at 7:30pm at Langho&Billington Community Centre £5 - includes glass of Bucks Fizz Tickets from Langho Pharmacy or Tel: Veronica 07895 697229 or Diana 01254 245946 Proceeds support Langho in Bloom and the Community Centre Joint founder member and chairman of Langho in Bloom, Kate Murdoch, will be taking on one of her biggest challenges to date. The 35-year-old will be attempting to run her first half marathon by competing in Blackpool’s Great Northwest Run on February 18th.
As the spring/summer season is fast approaching funds are needed to refill the planters and hanging baskets that the team have added to the village over the past two years. As well as supporting Langho in bloom, Kate will be splitting any sponsorship donations with the East Lancashire Hospice as this is another charity close to her heart. Kate only started running 12 months ago when she signed up for the Great Manchester 10k raising over £300 for Cancer Research UK in memory of her mum who lost her fight against cancer in 1989. Since then the married mother-of-one has discovered a passion for cycling and in October 2017 she raised over £360 for the British Heart Foundation by cycling from Manchester to Blackpool at midnight. The pharmacy technician from Langho Pharmacy said: “Langho in Bloom has been a huge part of my life for the past two years. To see the massive transformation the team have made to the village and for the positive feedback we have received off all our supporters is mind blowing! The local people and businesses have been incredible and without their help none of what we do could have been achieved. “ Kate, who has a four-year-old son called James, added: “Plants don’t come cheap and this year we need to raise all the funds we can to make a spectacular summer display. “I work in pharmacy and sadly a number of our customers do spend their last days at the hospice. The care and compassion they provide is second to none. I will be running in memory of my Uncle Steven Richardson who lost his battle to cancer in 2016.” If anybody would like to sponsor Kate in her half marathon attempt then call into Langho Pharmacy or visit https://www.justgiving.com/ fundraising/kate-murdoch4 Read more at: https://www.clitheroeadvertiser.co.uk/news/kate-puts-her-best-foot-forward-for-charity-1-8996900 Brian Haworth presenting Certificate and Cup to landlord of Lord Nelson, joined by Kate and Veronica from Langho in Bloom .
